Pendo House provides alcohol- and drug-free housing in a structured, peer-supported living environment. Our mission is to offer safe, stable housing governed by clear house rules, shared expectations, and accountability.
Pendo House is committed to dignity, respect, and personal responsibility. Residents voluntarily choose to live in a substance-free household and are responsible for managing their own recovery, employment, healthcare, and personal affairs.
Pendo House does not provide treatment, counseling, medical care, or religious instruction. Residents of all backgrounds are welcome, and participation in any spiritual or religious activity is entirely voluntary and resident-led.
With over 17 years of experience in real estate, I've had the privilege of helping countless individuals and families find their dream homes. However, I realized that some people needed more than just a roof over their heads – they needed a supportive community to thrive. This insight led me to found Pendo Homes, a haven for those on the journey to recovery.
At Pendo Homes, we believe that everyone deserves a second chance. Our homes are carefully designed to provide a safe, structured environment that fosters healing and growth. We understand that recovery is a journey, not a destination, and we're committed to supporting our residents every step of the way.
Our properties are strategically located in peaceful neighborhoods, close to essential services, employment opportunities, and support networks. We take pride in creating communities that promote dignity, purpose, and a sense of belonging. Our mission is built on the principle of love – "Pendo" means "love" in Swahili – and we're dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of those we serve.
As we continue to grow and expand our services, our commitment remains unwavering: to provide environments where recovery is not just possible, but sustainable. We're passionate about helping individuals rebuild their lives and achieve their full potential, and we're honored to be part of their journey.

Our vision is for Pendo Homes to be a trusted provider of alcohol- and drug-free housing in Massachusetts, known for operating safe, well-managed residences with clear house rules, accountability, and respect for all residents.
We envision communities where individuals who choose sober living have access to stable housing environments that support personal responsibility, dignity, and lawful living through structure and shared expectations.
Pendo Homes is not a detox facility, hospital, or clinical rehab center. What we provide is something essential and too often overlooked the structure, stability, and community support that makes sobriety sustainable after formal treatment. Research has shown that sober living environments like ours are a vital part of long-term recovery. At Pendo Homes, we step in where formal treatment programs leave off. This is often the most vulnerable stage when individuals return to daily life and face the challenges of staying clean while managing work, relationships, and personal responsibilities. That’s where we provide strength, consistency, and a second chance. We currently operate a clean, structured sober house in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, conveniently located with access to public transportation, job opportunities, stores, and community services. Our homes are open to individuals who are serious about their recovery and ready to take responsibility for building a better future.
One of the most common things we hear from people in recovery is that idle time being alone, bored, or unoccupied is one of the biggest threats to their sobriety. That’s why our environment is intentionally structured to reduce isolation and create meaningful connection. At Pendo Homes, you're never alone, never idle, and always engaged in your recovery.
1. Mandatory chores and group responsibilities.
2. Group meals and shared cooking.
3. Recovery-focused meetings and discussions.
4. Recreation such as board games, movies, music, and outdoor cookouts.
5. Regular house check-ins and access to support from house managers and peers.
6. Sobriety is a daily commitment, and we are here to make each day structured, purposeful, and filled with accountability.
By the time you walk into Pendo Homes, you may have exhausted other housing options, recently been released from incarceration, or reached a turning point due to addiction-related setbacks. Regardless of your past, from the moment you enter our home, we focus on your future.
We help residents:
1. Build self-esteem and a sense of personal responsibility.
2. Develop a strong work ethic and accountability
3. Practice financial responsibility with consistent weekly program fees
4. Re-engage in society as productive, sober individuals
Like many sober homes, we operate through shared financial contributions. But this is more than just rent. it’s a return to structure, budgeting, and living within one’s means, which are all vital aspects of long-term recovery.
Pendo Homes isn’t one-size-fits-all. Some residents stay a few months, others thrive here for years. As long as a resident is upholding the house standards remaining sober, participating in house life, contributing financially and socially they are welcome to stay.
But to protect the integrity of our home and the safety of others, we take violations seriously. If a resident uses drugs or alcohol, neglects responsibilities, or causes disruption, we require them to leave immediately. One person’s poor choices should never risk another’s recovery.
At Pendo Homes, we understand that sobriety is not just about abstaining from substances, it’s about rebuilding lives. We stand beside each resident as they move from surviving to thriving, from brokenness to hope. Our supportive environment, led by Director Tim Kihiko, blends lived empathy with structured guidance. We believe in recovery. We believe in you.
